Position Title:      Substitute School Nurse 

Department:        Alma School District 

Reports To:          Head School District Nurse/Building Principal 

Salary:                  $135.00 a Day LPN/$150.00 a Day RN

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES, RESPONSIBILITIES, EXPERIENCE AND SKILL SET

• Provide nursing care to students
• Administer medications and nursing care procedures as prescribed by the student’s physician  
• Communicate with building administrators, teachers and parents regarding any injuries sustained at school
• Provide first aid and assessment of injuries, notifying parents concerning anything that leaves a mark 
• Assess students for illness, reporting fever of 100.4 or above and inform guardians of the district’s 24 hour fever free policy
• Follow procedures for reporting child abuse and neglect as a mandated reporter
• Chronic illness management (diabetics, asthmatic’s, B/P’s etc.) 

QUALIFICATIONS

• Punctual and regular attendance
• Accept supervision and suggestions
• Ability to maintain good relationships with peers and co-workers that are characterized by mutual support, respect, and cooperation
• Maintain a positive attitude toward students and a cooperative attitude with staff
• Ability to professionally communicate with students, staff, parents, and community
• Maintain confidentiality pertaining to students and staff
• Ability to use good judgement in making decisions
• Skillful with technology, must be able to learn how to use state systems and create local data documents

EDUCATION, CREDENTIALS and/or EXPERIENCE

• Current Nursing License in state of Arkansas (RN or LPN) 
• CPR and First Aid Certification required
• Pediatric &/or emergency medicine experience preferred
