 ESSENTIAL DUTIES, RESPONSIBILITIES, EXPERIENCE AND SKILL SET

• Holds or is able to secure an Arkansas teaching license, specifically in secondary English
• Teach secondary English courses to students in grades 9-12, utilizing course guidelines that are aligned with Arkansas teaching/learning standards and other designated district curriculum expectations
• Develop and study curriculum lesson plans that support reading, comprehension, grammar, and writing skills  
• Use of available technology to help students produce projects to demonstrate their understanding of literary skills in practical applications  
• Has a passion for teaching literary concepts in a student-centered classroom
• Provide opportunities, when needed, for individualized and small-group instruction to adapt the curriculum to the needs of each student
• Establish and maintain standards of student behavior needed to provide an orderly, productive and engaging classroom environment
• Evaluate each student’s progress in reading comprehension, literary analysis, and writing skills to provide support as needed
• Create engaging, active lesson plans to promote student mastery of literary concepts
• Communicates with parents and other personnel regarding student mastery and progress
• Supervise students in and out-of-classroom during the assigned work day
• Maintain professional competence by participating in continuous professional growth, curriculum development opportunities, and Professional Learning Communities
• Share in the sponsorship of student activities such as literacy projects, promotional events, as well as faculty committees and projects
• Participate cooperatively with the appropriate administrator in their evaluation and professional growth plan
• Creates a classroom environment and lessons that are conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of the students (including differentiation and engagement)
• Displays effective classroom management and incorporates engaging student activities
• Strive to implement, by instruction and action, the district’s philosophy of education and instructional goals and objectives
• Perform other duties as assigned
